Why should you include Serums in your skin regime?| Clear all your doubts

Okay! By now you all might have heard the hype about the serums and especially vitamin c serum but did you guys include it in your skincare routine?

Well if no, let me tell you, till the last month, I was also in your stand – skeptical about purchasing a vitamin C serum.

And yes, a lot of you are hesitant to purchase because it’s overpriced. I get it! but I found a few budget-friendly alternatives to the high-in-demand – Vitamin C.

I’m going to share with you a list of Q&A session which I went through before purchasing the serum. And, why I finally concluded that I’m happy about using it and you should use it too.

How to apply the serum?

Take a few drops of serum on your finger tips. Gently massage and press the serum into the skin and don’t rub harshly on the skin because it stretches your skin and might cause wrinkles.

Dabbing the serum on the skin helps in penetrating the serum into our skin. This increases the effects of the serum on our skin.

The particulars present in the serum are very tiny and can be easily vaporized. so, by dabbing we can effectively lock the healthy ingredients of the serum in our skin.

Should I go only for Vitamin C Serum?

No, there are a lot of other serums which have bright side effects like vitamin C. Based on your requirements, you have to choose the right one for you.

For instance, Vitamin C is great for hyperpigmentation and collagen boost whereas Tea tree serum works splendidly for acne and blemishes.

When to apply the serum?

Be it any serum, it should always be applied after cleansing the face. And, it works well if you apply it after toning the skin. But, never apply it after moisturizing. Because, by moisturizing, we are forming a layer over our skin and if we apply after it, we won’t be successful in penetrating the tiny particulars of the serum into the skin and hence, won’t meet our desired results.

Are there different ways to apply the serum based on its concentration?

Well! the best way to apply any serum is to dab. But, if it is has a thicker concentration then just swipe the serum on the skin and let it go inside the skin. And, if it has a thin concentration, gently spread it all over the face and dab it into the skin.

Are serums and moisturizers the same?

Serums are not moisturizers or creams. They don’t form a layer on the skin instead they penetrate inside our skin to fight several skin issues. And, they generally have a gel or thinner concentration than creams or moisturizers.

What are the benefits of serums?

  • Firms and tightens your skin
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation and dark spots – by reducing the melanin in our body. Yes! but if you are suffering from melasma or any severe hyperpigmentation then only vitamin c won’t be sufficient.
  • Adds glow to your skin
  • Reduces the pre-aging process and boosts Collagen
  • hydrates skin and helps fight acne and blemishes
  • And, almost every skin problem has a different serum solution.

How often should serums be used?

Serums can be used twice a day – morning and night before sleep.

Vitamin C has a reservoir effect and stays in our skin for 72 hours but due to high exposure to the sun and UV rays, the levels of vitamin C have a reduced effect. So, it’s best to use it at least once a day.

And, don’t forget to refer your serum for usage.

Why should you not directly put to use on your face?

Whenever buying it, do a patch test on the neck before using it on the face. Because every person has a different skin type and our skin responds differently to every product.

So, it’s advisable not to use serum or be it any product to use directly on the face when using for the first time.

How long does it take to see the results?

Results of any serum or be it any product takes at least 1-2 months to see a difference on our skin. And, your lifestyle, age, and skin condition play an important role in the results of the serum.

It works but yes! patience plays an important role. You must give it a try and wait for the results.

How much percentage of vitamin C should I use and what ingredients added can be helpful?

You can start from 10 % and extend to 20 %. And, Vitamin C including hyaluronic acid is more effective.

Can we make serums at home?

Yes! you can make the serum at home. But keeping the complete knowledge of the ingredients you are going to use.

If trying to make vitamin Serum at home, use a dark bottle to store.

The results of homemade serums may not be the same as market-available serums because different ways are used to store the vitamin C in the concentration and several other ingredients are added with the assistance of skin-care specialists. But, still it depends on your skin on how it effects your skin.
